It is widely known that the Greek law on official translations considers translations validated by lawyers as completely equivalent and lawful, as per the Lawyers’ Code of 8 October 1954.

TRANSLATIONS ARE AS VALID AS COPIES AS PER ARTICLE 53, DECISION 219 (42) H Decree 160 Paragraph 1 FIRST ISSUE, Sheet No. 235, ARTICLE 52,160 Paragraph 1 FIRST ISSUE, Sheet No. 235, ARTICLE 52,

Paragraph 1
LAWYERS ARE ENTITLED TO ISSUE VALIDATED COPIES OF ANY TYPE OF DOCUMENTS, BEING LIABLE FOR THEIR ACCURACY.

Paragraph 2
SUCH COPIES ARE FULLY EFFECTIVE AS A COLLATED DOCUMENT.

Paragraph 3
…….ANY CIVIL SERVANT (judge, administrative, military, police officer, etc.) WHO REFUSES TO ACCEPT AND RESPECT SUCH COPY SHALL BE PUNISHED
a) FOR MISCONDUCT, EITHER EX OFFICIO OR UPON COMPLAINT BY THE RELEVANT BAR ASSOCIATION; and
b) BY DISCIPLINARY ACTION, AT LEAST WITH TEMPORARY CESSATION OF SERVICE,
provide official, validated translations completely equivalent to those provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, fully acceptable by all private and public agencies in Greece and abroad, as provided by law.

Furthermore, as the law explicitly states, …..
