Who is Intertranslations ?

InterTranslations, which was founded in Athens in 1995 by Mr. Michael Xynos, now ranks amongst the leading translation companies in South-eastern Europe. The company specialises in business, economic, finance and technical translation services for large multinational companies and government organisations. It has a team of 30 full-time employees and a global network of more than 700 associates and collaborators.     

Based in Athens (Greece), the company continuously increases the numbers of its partners, corporate and individual, throughout Europe, the Middle-East, the Far East, the Balkans, Russia and Asia. 

Having quality in language, project management, and quality assurance as its main goal,the company is able to deliver complex projects in a short time.

Is it advisable to have my website translated?

What are the languages you work in?

The company can provide translation services in all languages, but in majority its' basic ten working languages are as follows:
Greek, English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Romanian, Bulgarian, Russian and Chinese.

Additionally, and thanks to an extensive network of associates in Greece and world-wide, InterTranslations is in the position to undertake the translation of texts in all European and Asian languages, including the following:

Arabic, Bengali, Czech, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Flemish, Gaelic, Gujarati, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Japanese, Kazakh, Korean, Kurdish, Latin, Latvian, Lithuanian, Malay, Maltese, Persian or Farsi, Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Portuguese (European), Slovak, Serbo-Croat, Slovene, Somali, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese and Welsh.



What is the time frame for project implementation?

For every translation project the specific needs of the client/final user is taken into account, and a projected amount of time proposed for delivery, which may vary depending on the language combination and complexity of the text, the specific arrangements made between the client and the project manager, and of course, the current workload. As a general rule, the company is able to undertake the translation of a minimum of 2,500 words a day per translator, including proofreading and editing.

What type of documents can you translate?

You can send your documents to the company by e-mail, fax, post or courier –this also applies to CDs, DVDs or floppy disks and also Zip and Jaz disks. You may also send Mac-formatted disks. Delivery of translated texts can be made by any of the same methods and programmes including:

  • Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect, Excel, Microsoft Works and PowerPoint
  • Adobe products like Photoshop, Illustrator, PageMaker, GoLive
  • Microsoft FrontPage, Macromedia Dreamweaver and other HTML editors
  • Quark XPress, Acrobat (PDF), PaintShop Pro


How do you charge for translations?

InterTranslations has chosen the charge system of a rate per word. However, charges may vary depending on the length and type of the document, on whether you have a corporate account with the company and on your delivery deadline: same-day translations carry a surcharge, as do translations in relatively obscure languages such as Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Armenian etc.

Translators can be assigned to a language providing the language has a written format. There is also a minimum charge of 20 Euros + V.A.T. per project.



What is the method of payment?

InterTranslations offers it's clients the option to make payments by any of the following methods:

  • Cheque
  • Cash
  • Bank transfer or deposit


What about arrangements regarding security and safeguarding my personal details?

A confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement applies to all InterTranslations’ collaborators. Security issues are treated with the utmost seriousness and translations are considered and handled as confidential material. A secure server is used to encrypt all sensitive data that is transferred online, including all documents and financial information.

Can you provide certified translations?

InterTranslations is in the position to verify and certify translations, provided original documention is supplied..

Do you use computer programmes in the translation process?

Of course, but always in conjunction with experienced native speakers. Computer-aided translation tools to assist the translation process, such as Trados, Catalyst, Transit etc., are extremely helpful in ensuring consistency and technical accuracy. In addition, such tools allow the company to provide cost-effective services to clients. However, as sometimes these programmes cannot guarantee maximum accuracy of the translation text, professional translators and editors are used to spot any errors. To sum up, these tools, in conjunction with an extensive global network of experienced and accredited associates, facilitates the assignment of each given project to the right translator, in terms of language combination and field specialisation.
