Italian translations

Italian is spoken today by approximately 70 million people, mostly in Italy, but also in Switzerland, Malta, Ethiopia, San Marino, the Vatican City, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, Libya, Somalia, and other countries in Europe and Africa.

Historically, the Italian language has undergone a complex process. Modern Italian is relatively recent, while the earliest texts surviving date back to the mid-ninth century. Dialects have always been a feature of the language, as cities were until quite recently city-states. However, dialects, as a rule, are not used for general communication, but are limited to a framework of informal expression and speech among native speakers.

Italian features a number of unique characteristics, with many irregular verbs (more than 400), rare tenses, pronunciation particularities and words borrowed from other languages which do not change with the plural. Also, words almost never end with consonants e.g. naturale, stazione, elefante.

Today, Italian teenagers, like many youngsters across the world, use abbreviations and foreign letters mostly in mobile phone texting, something considered unacceptable in formal writing.

At InterTranslations,  the translation of an Italian text is not a matter of routine. The project managers analyse the parameters of the client's business, the target audience and assign the texts to specialised translators in order to achieve timely delivery of top-quality translation projects.
